UPDATES for Mary Huey Quilts

Good morning to those who are still with me.  As you've noticed, I haven't posted for about 5 months -- writing the posts takes more time and mental energy than I'm willing to use these days.  Nothing is wrong with me, just ageing and slowing down -- that's hard to say, but it's the truth.  I'm still sewing just about every day and finishing projects, both old and new.

Currently, I'm going through old posts and updating some things.  The primary update concerns the business closure and retirement of Marti Michel.  Because so many of many posts have shared methods and projects focused on her templates and tools, I'm editing as many of those posts as I can find.  After each reference to a Michel tool, I'm adding *** which hopefully will send readers to the end of the post where I'm adding the following statement --

***EDIT April 2025
Marti Michel closed her business in late in 2024 and while some shops may still have a stock of her templates, you can also find them on Ebay and Etsy.

This also will make a difference for quilters using my patterns if they don't already own her templates.  So if you are one of those people, I urge you to track down the templates soon.  I am not going to search out different tools to substitute and rewrite the patterns.

My patterns are still available in my Etsy shop at
but I'm planning to close the shop by the end of the summer.

My blog will stay up through the end of September and then I plan to take that down as well.  Having said that, since there are some good technique posts you may wish to save for your personal use, you have my permission to do that.  You should be able to use CTRL P to notify your printer you want to print it out.

Let me close by saying thank you for following my blog which I started almost 15 years ago to promote myself as a quilt making teacher!  Your interest has fostered lots of creativity for me and I hope some of the ideas and techniques I've shared with you have strengthened your skill and interest in this dynamic and artistic craft!!

Best wishes and keep plugging away at those UFO's!!

Mary Huey
